‘There are no brownie points in kow-towing’

Weeds cause grave concerns

ceduffyletter SIR – Do we really have to disrespect the dead in Whitehaven by allowing ancient gravestones to become covered in moss, and weeds?

Sometimes protests prove more than just whistling in the wind

SIR – Sometimes the right decisions get made when even the most sceptical of us don’t believe it possible. The defeat of two of the worst projects planned for our area is a real cause for celebration in Copeland.

Save this historic site

GDF: Geology first – then ask for volunteers

andy eddiemartinxx SIR – Cumbria Trust is delighted to see from Baroness Verma’s prompt reply (November 14) that she is an avid reader of The Whitehaven News. Given that the search for a nuclear waste repository is supposed to be a national process, we wonder if this interest extends to all local papers around the UK, or if West Cumbria is singled-out for special treatment?
