Beacon’s wider outlook

andy eddiemartinxx SIR – Cumbria Trust is delighted to see from Baroness Verma’s prompt reply (November 14) that she is an avid reader of The Whitehaven News. Given that the search for a nuclear waste repository is supposed to be a national process, we wonder if this interest extends to all local papers around the UK, or if West Cumbria is singled-out for special treatment?

SIR – There seems to be a small number of people in Copeland and beyond who are under the illusion that the answer to both Copeland’s problems and those of Whitehaven town centre are:SIR – I recently received an e-mail asking me to support a referendum for a directly-elected mayor. Strange that this was from a Mr A Millie, who is anti-nuclear.
