LOUD AND PROUD: Headliners The Pigeon Detectives in full flight during their fast and furious set during the At The Playground Festival

The weekend proved a tremendous success and several thousand pounds towards the running and upkeep of both Whitehaven Rugby Union and Cricket clubs was generated.

The festival could not have taken place without the support of town centre residents, Copeland Community Foundation, Jamie Reed MP, Emma Jackson, Copeland Borough Council, the emergency services, Sellafield Fire Brigade, Meldrum Electrical, Focus Scaffolding, The Whitehaven News, The Richmond, The Sunny Hill, Whitehaven Festival Committee, Maryport ARLFC, Steve Clark Sound and Lighting, Lockhart Leisure, Stutts, Cumbria Council Neighbourhood Forum, Kevin and his Security team, Whitehaven First Responders, Food Vendors, Taylor's Funfair, Otis, Dawson, Emma, Graeme McCallister, The Rome Family, Terry King, Sky (aka Derek Banks), Manos TV, all the musicians and their management, The Mighty Boof, the volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout, and of course everyone who bought tickets and supported our event.

As well as West Cumbrians, the event attracted people of various ages from all over the UK and we have been told by several traders they enjoyed a bumper weekend due to the patronage of festival attendees and performers. The degree of activity on social media sites demonstrates that ‘At the Playground’ is now firmly on the festival map.

Over the last few years Whitehaven has been recognised positively on the national music scene. We are sure that this reputation will be further enhanced by the stellar line up performing on the harbour side over the forthcoming Jubilee Weekend.

We look forward to holding our event next year and hope for everyone’s continued support.
