Memories are made of this

SIR – I would just like to say how much I enjoyed reading the book review by Margaret Crosby on Dovenby Days. I had a sister who was admitted in 1935 and was a resident until it closed. When I was younger, my family would enjoy a day visiting her in Dovenby Hall. We would visit on the first Saturday of every month, it was like a short holiday! We would take sandwiches, cakes, sweets and buy a lovely cup of tea when we got there. My sister was very well looked after there, and we met many patients, family and staff over the years.
Reading the book has brought back many happy memories.
