Market off to a flying start
Last updated at 10:26, Thursday, 16 October 2008
SIR – I am writing on behalf of the James Street Traders to thank everyone who came to the Farmer and Craft Market on Saturday. It was very well attended and a great success.
In these times when we tend to hear more about market failures than successes, it feels particularly heartening to be able to share something positive. No doubt the good weather helped, but people were still coming through the doors when we were closing at 2pm! As a result we have decided to extend the opening hours from 10am until 3pm.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped to support the creation of this market, including The Whitehaven News and the regeneration department of Copeland Borough Council. We hope that it will grow from strength to strength, bringing more people to shop in our town.
The market is held on the second Saturday of each month in the United Reformed Church Hall, James Street, so the following one will be on November 8 and a special Christmas Market and Festival on December 13.
We look forward to seeing even more people there next time!
