Winning streak still attracts brickbats
RUGBY League’s only unbeaten team and one which has established a new Whitehaven club record of 13 matches without defeat — 12 wins and a draw. Not bad going or as head coach Dave Rotheram puts it “I think we’re doing bloody well.”

Respect to Tigers

Take a break!
WHITEHAVEN’ head coach didn’t mince his words when I asked him what was wrong with his team last Sunday he didn’t mince his words: “They’re knackered, they need a break, that’s why we’re going to St Bees School swimming pool instead of weight training.”

Derby battles not what they were
MANY moons ago when I started to watch rugby league, a far different game than it is today, Whitehaven found it very difficult to beat Workington Town. It wasn’t that Whitehaven didn’t have good teams, they most certainly did, it was just that Town always seemed to be that bit better. So much better, in fact, that the first Town side I ever saw was good enough to reach Wembley, later win things like the Western Division championship and a much-lamented dinosaur called the Lancashire Cup!

No April fools at Haven
SIGNS from The Recreation Ground in last Sunday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup tie are that this Whitehaven’s team is slowly but surely coming good.

From brickbats to plaudits for Haven
“YOU are talented play-ers and you’ll make mistakes but talented players don’t repeat them” — these were Dave Rother-am’s words to his team before they went out to face Blackpool last Sunday.

Flat Sunday for Haven fans
IT could be that Whitehaven’s fans felt as flat at The Recre on Sunday as England rugby union’s supporters were at Croke Park, Ireland, the previous day.

NOBODY seems to have more ups and downs at the Recreation Ground than Carl Sice, but suddenly the ex-Town ace is flavour of the pre-season.

Down the long and winding road
IT’s a welcome return to action for Whitehaven on Sunday, but the long and winding road to Barrow won’t be half as tortuous as what’s going on behind the scenes at The Recre and certain other places of interest.

No points worries
RUGBY League’s new points system should-n’t worry Whitehaven too much — well, they’re not going to get beaten that often are they?

Are Haven heading to our tv screens?
CHANCES are that, in high definition or just plain colour, we may see Whitehaven on television during 2007, maybe even Workington Town, although there is far more chance of the former!

A crashing derby
THE worrying sight of Neil Baynes crashing into the Recreation Ground turf illustrated the competitive and combative nature of last Friday evening’s local derby, but fortunately the turf couldn’t have been much softer.
