Keswick School’s new headteacher

A new headteacher has been appointed to take over Keswick School.

Simon Jackson, currently the school’s deputy headteacher, will take over from Mike Chapman, who retires after 16 years.

Mr Chapman had planned to retire last summer but agreed to stay on until a suitable replacement was found.

Sarah Peck, chairman of governors, said: “We are sorry to be saying goodbye to Mr Chapman at the end of the summer term.

“He has been an inspirational leader for the last 16 years.”

Mr Jackson, who has been deputy head since 2010, will become the eighth headteacher in the school’s history.

Mr Chapman took over from Howard Allen in 1995, and he has seen it transformed into a single site, had a visit from the Queen but also had to cope with a school bus crash in which two pupils died in 2010.
