Kells hammer Glasson as Iggesund Cumberland ARL resumes

The Iggesund Cumberland ARL burst back into action after the break in the new summer season.

Kells look the team they are all going to have to stop and they continued their progress towards what should be the Premier Division title with a 48-8 win at Glasson.

The Whitehaven side was very consistent, scoring 24 points in each half. Greg Rowley and Dean Petrie scored first-half tries for Glasson.

The Kells tries were scored by Craig Benson (3), Danny Rowell, Ross Gainford, Steven Smith, Tony Burns and Connor Holliday. Gainford booted eight goals.

Hensingham continue to struggle at the wrong end of the table and they were beaten 32-4 at home by Maryport.

Ben Rogerson got the lone try for the Whitehaven side. Liam Vickers (2), Darren Degraff, Sam Forrester and Craig Foster scored tries for Maryport, as well as former Workington Town prop Matt Tunstall who marked his debut with a touchdown. Mark Walker kicked four goals.

The Seaton derby had been played a week earlier and the first team beat the A team 30-6.

The Seaton tries came from Richard George (2), Tom Curwen, Andy McGlasson and Peter Watson with five goals from Miguel Blanco-Charters.

The Seaton A try scorer was Brad Milligan.
