Joanne Linzi Young, 31, paramedic and Phil O’Hagan, 35, process operator at Sellafield, live in Whitehaven.

HOW THEY MET: First met in The Forum, Workington 14 years ago but lost touch. They met again six years ago on a night out in Whitehaven.

PROPOSAL: On a surprise holiday to Phuket in Thailand for Joanne’s 30th birthday in January 2008.

VENUE: St James’ Church, Whitehaven.

THEME: Ivory, crystal and romantic.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory taffeta strapless dress with a heavily rouched bodice and waterfall effect skirt and taffeta flower corsages to the hip, from Champagne Brides, Workington.

GROOMSMEN: The groom’s best friend Neil Bell was best man. Ushers were the groom’s brother Paul Radcliffe, friends David Hetherington, David Hall and Alan Conwey, and nephews Reece Radcliffe, Alex Kitchen and Isaac McShane. They wore black Prince Edward jackets, cream royale waistcoats and black striped trousers from Debenhams. The groom wore grey tailcoat and trousers, coffee Salerno waistcoat and taupe ruche from Debenhams.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sisters Nicola Kitchen and Claire McShane were bridesmaids and wore Dessy dresses from Capricorn, Carlisle. Holly Kitchen was flower girl and wore a mink dress from Monsoon.

FLOWERS: The bride carried a traditional bouquet of double ivory lisianthus, akito roses and calla lilies with baby blue eucalyptus from Cottage Garden, Cockermouth.

TRANSPORT: A blue Beauford Tourer and a Daimler from A Touch of Class, Workington and coaches by Messengers, Aspatria.

RECEPTION: Hundith Hill, Cockermouth for a champagne and cider reception for 90 guests and a further 40 guests for an evening reception.

TABLE SETTINGS: Ivory vases with calla lilies and ivory delphinium petals from celebrationsplus.com, crystal table gems from thelastdetail.co.uk and frosted glass table votives.

FAVOURS: Charity pins for Cancer Research for the women and Hospice at Home Workington for the men and toys, books, games and sweets for the children.

CAKE: A chocolate and Madeira sponge cake with ivory icing, made by Anne Bulloch of Sandwich, Whitehaven.

FIRST DANCE: Greatest Day, Take That.

ENTERTAINMENT: Singer Paul Dobie, Lancaster.

HONEYMOON: Maldives.
