The show does go on for Players

THE old showbiz adage of ‘the show must go on’ has been fitting for Rosehill Players in the preparation of their upcoming production, When We Are Married.
The Players perform the farcical comedy from November 14 to 17 (7.30pm), but it almost wasn’t to be when the actor cast to play Ruby was unable to appear.
“She had to drop out at the last minute, and two replacements found they were not able to take it on at such short notice,” said the Players’ Marian Finn.
“We had to send out SOSs to everyone we knew or the play would be cancelled.
“But we had fantastic news when Gillian Rothery (whose sister Vanessa Cowley is playing Maria) came to our rescue.”
The play, by JB Priestley, is set in 1895 and features three couples who are all celebrating their silver weddings having been married on the same day, at the same chapel, by the same vicar. All is going well until a letter arrives which turns everything upside down with hilarious results.
Tickets are £10 from 01946 692422 or www.rosehilltheatre.co.uk.
