The future’s bright for drummer Sam

A TALENTED young drummer has finished runner-up in the finals of a prestigious music competition.
Sam Hunter competed against musicians of all disciplines in the final of the Keldwyth Awards at Levens Hall in Kendal at the end of August.
Sam, 18, qualified for the finals after impressing a panel of judges at the preliminaries at Grasmere to be named one of the four finalists from a class of 14 musicians from all over the country.
Although he didn’t win, he was commended by the judges and praised by his own tutor, Whitehaven-based Andy Kelly.
Sam, who recently left Whitehaven School, has been accepted at Music Tech College in London to study a B.Mus degree in drum performance. He has also passed – with distinction – a diploma in drum kit performance, gaining an associateship with Trinity College London.
