Singers come together for student’s American dream

A FUNDRAISING concert takes place tonight (Thursday) to help a singing student live out her American dream.
Sarah-Jayne Taylorson, 18, has passed an audition for the American Drama and Music Academy and heads for New York in October.
And although she has a partial scholarship, she still needs to raise £25,000 to enable her to study musical theatre Stateside.
To help boost the funds, Sarah-Jayne will be joined by a host of her colleagues from the Judith Jones Vocal Studios for tonight’s Easter Extravaganza show at Egremont Market Hall.
Among those on the bill will be the newly-formed Viva Vox Rock Choir, which started in January, and will be performing for the first time.
Judith said: “The choir was set up to enable singers of all abilities to come together and learn how to sing in harmony and read music, while performing arrangements from artists including Queen, Lady GaGa, Adele and Metallica.
“The Voxettes will also be performing on the night, alongside other students from Judith Jones Vocal Studios, singing a variety of songs.
“Some of them have never sung in public before, and this will be an opportunity to showcase the pieces they have been working on since January.
“I am sure the programme we have put together will have something for everyone. It’s a great opportunity for them to sing with a full sound and light system in front of a large audience. We had a wonderful show at Christmas, and since then, many of the perfomers have increased in confidence and taken on more challenging pieces.
“Members of the Christmas show audience were amazed at the quality of the show, and hopefully they will come along and support us again.”
The show begins at 7.30pm and there will be a prize raffle. Tickets cost £6 and are on sale on the door. Sarah-Jayne’s new single will also be on sale.
Anyone who wishes to join the Viva Vox Rock Choir is asked to contact Judith on 07704465237 or info@judithjonesvoicecoach.co.uk.
