AT Silecroft WI’s May meeting, Josie Watson, president, welcomed 19 members and secretary Maggie Cummings read the minutes and events from the County News.
Three members had attended a concert at Bootle and five members had attended Bootle WI birthday party. Both occasions were very enjoyable.
Josie gave out details of the summer outing planned for August 22. This will be a trip to the Wensleydale creameries at Hawes for lunch, followed by a cheese- making demonstration and visit to the shop and museum.
After a look round Hawes we will continue on to the Country Harvest Store at Ingleton for afternoon tea and some retail therapy in the shop.
Four members were invited to attend Santon Bridge WI birthday party in June.
The entertainment for the evening was the Dean Handbell Ringers, and they gave a delightful and diverse programme, ranging from An English Country Garden, The Dambusters March, and songs from West End Shows to some Maori music from New Zealand.
All this was interspersed with some very funny jokes.
Margaret Griffiths gave the vote of thanks.
The competition was for a bell. Leslie Whittle was first and Shirley Robinson second.
Mary Cunningham and Ann Brown served tea and home baking to members and guests.
