Review: Shore, at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven

WEST Cumbrian band Shore performed to a packed Rosehill on Friday night, and they played hits for the whole crowd to enjoy.

From McFly to Prince, Shore really showed their versatility to put on an entertaining show with the crowd joining in at every opportunity.

The band of Lee Shackley (keyboard), Steven Norman (drums), Jolan (vocals, guitar) and Rob Lambert (bass) were joined on stage for most of the night by teen TV favourite Brad Kavanagh, who played as a guest member for Shore’s first ever headline performance.

The St Bees lads performed their first ever self-penned song for the audience, which demonstrated how well the band is working together as the new song fitted into their set as if it was a popular cover.

Shore also provided the music for a number of Rosehill regulars who were also on the bill, and Brad kept the crowd happy by chatting to them in between songs.

Some of the tunes the band played were classics such as Purple Rain which left the crowd standing after a truly amazing rendition of the 1984 Prince hit, and Robbie Williams’ favourite Let Me Entertain You, through to more modern hits such as Ed Sheeran’s Lego House and The Script’s popular Break Even.

Shore covered over 30 years’ worth of songs which is what made it such a special performance as, although the audience had a wide age range, every one of them knew at least of the band’s songs.

The entire crowd went home having got their money’s worth, and will now look forward to Shore’s next headline performance – wherever that may be.
