Record deal for trio

INDIE rock trio House of Three Hands have landed themselves a record deal.
The Cumbrian band have signed with Manchester-based independent record label Longevity Records for the release of three singles – the first of which will be out in July with a music video – and an EP.
Although the group all attend universities across the country, they are very much still together and have had a series of high profile gigs in the past year, in the North West (Manchester Academy and Liverpool’s O2) and locally have supported the likes of Carl Barât (in Whitehaven) and The Mystery Jets (in Carlisle).
“The record deal came about really on a recommendation from someone we knew well,” says lead vocalist and bass player Alex Brown, 20, from Whitehaven.
“He showed the label our stuff and they were impressed so we went to their office and signed on the dotted line.
“They’re really nice people and already feel more like a family than a record company.”
The band is made up of drummer Dave Annis, from Carlisle, and guitarist and backing vocalist Jake Wedgwood, from Mawbray, both 19.
Alex said: “Jake and I have been writing together for a long time now, and we later teamed up with Dave after we parted ways with our previous drummer.
“I would say that we take our influences from a variety of different bands and genres – it’s forever changing.
“But we tend to let the people decide who to compare us to – that’s been Two Door Cinema Club, The Police, Bloc Party,.”
Jake added: “At the moment we’re just working on deciding which song we want as our first single.
“It’s really hard because we love every song so we’re obviously going to struggle choosing it.
“This is where the label comes in, because they’ll give us some feedback and opinions to try and help us decide.”
The boys are booked up with gigs in May then are due to record their first single in June. It will be recorded at Blueprint Studio in Salford, which has hosted the likes of Elbow, 50 Cent, Lady GaGa, Johnny Marr and many others.
“We are all absolutely ecstatic about it,” said Jake. “I think we’re lucky to have ended up in this situation.”
“The future really does look good for us,” added Alex.
