Pupils in tune
Published at 11:09, Thursday, 20 October 2011
SCHOOL pupils have taken part in a hugely enjoyable Have-A-Go music workshop at St Bees School.
Pupils from St Bees Village School, Ennerdale and Kinniside, St James’, Whitehaven, Bransty, Gosforth, St Bridget’s, Egremont and Jericho came together with pupils from St Bees School Preparatory Department and senior St Bees School musicians and staff.
The ensemble rehearsed and then performed a short opera based on the tale of Sir Ralph the Rover and the Legend of the Inchcape Rock.
St Bees School’s director of music, Hugh Turpin, assisted by teachers, Margie Simper and Jane Bell, put the budding performers through their paces.
Violinists, brass players, guitarists and singers ultimately gave a polished performance in front of parents and teachers at the end of the day.
