Moor Row Jubilee Club

OUR February meeting club was opened by our chairman John Allonby. Apologies were given from David Simpson and the prayer for today was written and given by Stanley Young.
Our speakers – Alan and Eleanor from “The Miners Lamp” – did the two old favourites Packing Up and Black Out. This was our last time to see them as they are going to retire. How they remember all the lines they do is amazing. They have you there with them living the life as being spoken of.
Their clothes also take you back and their accents from 1940 are excellent, awesome. We always appreciate their visits and devotion to detail.
A vote of thanks was given by Stanley Young. We then had our free raffle which was won by Ann Brough, Val Maudsley, Helen Alonby and George Branthwaite. Our big raffle was won by Kathleen Mounsey, Agnes King, Marjory Nicol, Joan Drinkwater, Barry Futton and Joan Drinkwater again.
OUR February 21 meeting was opened by John Allonby with Stanley Young saying a prayer and David Simpson reading out apologies from those members not present.
A letter was read out from Sellafield Contractors Group Charity Committee giving a much-appreciated donation towards our efforts for the coming year.
An enjoyable slide show was provided by Bill and Pat Stainton depicting Nether Wasdale, Morris Dancers, Egremont Crab Fair gurning, birds on the Farne Islands and Gosforth Show – all very interesting.
Free raffles were won by Mavis Rothery, Muriel Garratt, Lawrence Graves, Kath Lyons and Irene Sharpe while big raffle winners were Rose and Ken Baty, Doreen Flitton, Val Bond, Yvonne Walker and Marjorie Nichol.
