Josh aims to make some new friends in Millom

JOSH Widdicombe admits that he’s not too familiar with Millom – but that’s just the way he likes it.
Comedian Josh, who is set to play The Beggar’s Theatre, says that discovering new towns and new people is one the best things about touring.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Josh, speaking to The Whitehaven News ahead of his gig on Friday, October 26.
“The good thing about touring is that you discover new places and new people all the time.
“It’s like walking into the unknown – which is exciting and terrifying at the same time.”
Josh’s eagerly-awaited new show, The Further Adventures Of, will be his opportunity to share his continued frustration with everything he comes into contact with.
Unable to relax and enjoy life, Josh has decided that it is everyone else that is at fault for his lack of enthusiasm for leaving the house!
“The show doesn’t really have a theme,” he said, “it’s 50 minutes of stand-up that doesn’t aim to change the world – just to be funny.”
Josh has enjoyed a meteoric rise on the stand-up circuit since first picking up a mic only four-and-a-half years ago.
He had previously held a few office jobs and found it a relief when he was able become a stand-up full-time.
“I thought I’d give it a go and it’s taken over my life. It’s strange because you would think you’d have a lot of time on your hands, but actually I’ve never had less free time.
“When I’m not doing live shows or television, I am writing. It never ends – but I’m not complaining.”
In the past year, he’s become a panel show regular, including Mock The Week (which he’s recording again this week) and Eight Out of 10 Cats.
He was also part of the team on The Last Leg, a Channel Four Paralympic spin-off show that proved to a major ratings winner.
“I’d like to take all the credit for its success!” joked Josh.
“But honestly, it could not have gone better. They approached me as a sports fan and I thought I’d give it a go.
“I thought the worst that could happen was a got to watch a lot of free sport, but as it turned out, the show was huge. I think it struck just the right tone.”
Tickets cost £12.50 and the show includes a support act. For more information telephone the venue on 01229 775677 or visit www.beggarstheatre.co.uk.
