A TOP weekend of live music is promised at the annual three-day Beck Fest spectacular.
The White Mare Hotel in Beckermet plays host to the event, starting at 5pm tomorrow (Friday), featuring 45 acts over three stages, along with a host of DJs mixing it up.
Outstanding Beatles tribute The Blue Meanies, The Lottery Winners, Jonny Foreigner and Tom Hingley (ex-Inspiral Carpets) are among the top bands who will grace the outside stages.
David Eldon, of organisers The Mighty Boof, said: “We were lucky to get The Blue Meanies. They have been on tour in Europe and managed to squeeze us in.
“We don’t deal with tribute acts very often but, in my opinion, this band is worth the ticket price alone.”
Other acts to play the outside stages include I Am Spartacus, Mazzoni, Jolan, John Mackie, Vanya, These Are Your Friends, House of Three Hands, Garry Kennedy, Horizons, Katfish, Religion of Tomorrow and With Lights Out.
Elsewhere, the acoustic lounge will feature a host of musicians, including Gavin McKew, Emma Dockeray, Tom Taylor, Bella, Black Wolf Run, Jade Ashcroft, David Park, Clare Jackson, Adam Amor, Tom Salmon and Sepia Ghost.
While the DJ area, hosted by No Alternative, will see Craig Docherty, Phil Bridges, Glover, James Ryan, DJ Pavarotti, Si Kennedy, Layten Lock and Lambuna DJs take to the decks.
The Boof’s Danny Maudling added: “I’m really looking forward to finishing the festival season off with this one. Last year it was a sell-out and, with this line-up, it looks like being another one.”
Camping is also available (contact The White Mare on 01946 841246) and a park-and-ride bus service is available from Yottenfews.
Tickets are £20 for the weekend or £10 per day. They are available from The White Mare or Threads, King Street, Whitehaven, on 01946 690008 or www.threads-clothing.com.
