i see that the work outside the civic hall is almost finished, and while passing one day last week, i noticed that the lights that have been installed were switched on,and very nice they were too,on the hand rails, under the steps leading to the front doors, the spotlights shining down from walls, and the lights in the trees. I wonder how long it will be before these lights go the same way as the lights on the crows nest, the wave, the lights on the old quay, and also the hub, which after all the years its been there i have never seen it lit up once.

Do the Copeland councillors really need Blackberrys, they were all given laptops in the not too distant past - some apparently remain unused, will the Blackberrys be another waste of taxpayers money. No doubt we will be told it is money well spent and the Council Tax will be going up by only 2 or 3%, how many of the boroughs residents will have to make do with lesser or even no pay rises this year. , Also do we need so many councillers, we pay big money (for this area) to the Chief Executive and the Heads of the Department - surely we should let the professionals do the jobs they are paid to do. How many councillors have the experience of running a sucessful business, bearing in mind how much money passes through the councils coffers and the number of persons employed by the Council. We are overrun with politicians, from our MP, the County councillors and the Borough Councillors - how much could be saved if we did away with some of them.
