Creative talents of Irton artists to go on display

THE creative talents of a group of Cumbrian residents is set to go on display this weekend.

The Art in Irton Group is staging its fourth annual exhibition in Santon Bridge Village Hall, in which members will show their work that depicts their very diverse approach in both subject matter and style.

Artwork on display, from the group’s 20-plus membership, will range from figure paintings, through a range of landscape works and into the abstract. Some of the pieces will be purely representational whilst others aim to stimulate more intellectual ideas.

Recently, the group has developed links with Florence Mine Arts Centre in Egremont, including having an exhibition of artwork there created using paint made from the mine pigment itself.

This year’s group exhibition also creates an opportunity for member of the public to join in the national campaign for drawing, The Big Draw. The theme for this year is ‘Taking a Line for a Walk’ and drawing materials will be provided for people who attend the exhibition to take part.

Many of the group will be present during the exhibition, which runs from Saturday to Monday (11am to 5pm) with free parking and entry. There is a preview evening tomorrow (Friday) from 7pm to which the public is also invited.

An illustrated catalogue will be available, along with hot and cold refreshments.
