There is a God II
A speed camera round the corner from speeding bikers - and now a questionnaire from the county council asking me about street lighting! There is a God!
Followers of this blog know that since February 4th I've been trying to get the county council to come and change a couple of light bulbs in the streetlamps outside my house. It's a particularly dark walk-through and the one remaining streetlamp does little to make you feel safe as you walk through late at night. Four months on and the lights are still not working so it was with some glee that I received through the post a survey asking me what I thought of Cumbria County Council services (including street lights). Oh Joy! That's one survey I did enjoy filling in.
I've just phoned the county council's "hotline" again. Once again I was told it was down as having been fixed. I'm guessing the lamp repair folk don't come out at night. The less kind person in me thinks it's just put down as "Fixed" to make the problem go away. This is obviously a problem in their "too difficult" tray. But my big fear now is that the council (and country) have run out of money. Perhaps it's time I got the step ladder out and had a go at fixing them myself.
