Some cheery posters
The Whitehaven community responds to some cheery posters for waiting rooms.
I am grateful to the Whitehaven Snappers and others who have volunteered some cheerful pictures with which to create posters for waiting rooms. I've drawn the first two up so you can have a look.
In addition to cheering up the posters, I've been chatting people to what else they would like in a waiting room. Nice music is usually mentioned - preferably Radio Two or Radio Cumbria. And I'd suggest a chess set so I can while away the two hours by challenging someone else in the waiting room!
It also struck me that the Homebase advert filmed at Carlisle railway station shows just how a mundane place such as a railway platform can actually look completely different to what we automatically design. And the good news is that Homebase are now running a competition in which people can nominate a place in their community to get transformed in a similar manner. I am busy now preparing the nomination for West Cumberland Hospital!
