Community cast needed at theatre

A COMMUNITY cast is needed for Keswick Theatre by the Lake’s upcoming show.
The Arthur Miller classic A View from the Bridge will be the spring production which runs from Saturday, April 2-23.
As well as the main cast, the theatre is on the lookout for some key cast members – local Cumbrian people.
Working with the community has become a vital part of Theatre by the Lake productions and has proved to be a great success in the past with plays such as The Hired Man and The Maid of Buttermere.
The theatre is looking for 12 adults (17 years and over only) to make up the community cast. There are no scripted lines to be spoken, but the community cast members may be involved in various moments of interaction with the central characters.
A View from the Bridge tells the story of a family living in the close-knit Italian community of Red Hook in Brooklyn, New York.
Relationships are tense in the family and the arrival of two relatives triggers a series of devastating events that ultimately lead to a terrible crime. It is an intense and moving drama that reflects on the effects of honour, passion and betrayal.
The chosen 12 amateur performers will play the residents of Red Hook alongside eight professional cast members and will work under the guidance of Theatre by the Lake’s professional creative team including director Stefan Escreet.
They will be involved in an intensive rehearsal process; from helping to create the characters of Red Hook to preparing for the actual run.
Those interested in auditioning should be aware that they must be available throughout March for rehearsals which may include evenings and weekends. The performance schedule will also be intensive and will require a commitment from performers every night (Monday to Saturday) plus various matinée performances during the three-week run.
If you would like to audition contact Amy Ferguson on: amy.ferguson@theatrebythelake.com or Sophie Curtis on sophie.curtis@theatrebythelake.com or by calling 017687 72282.
The deadline for audition applications is Friday, February 4. Auditions will take place on Saturday, February 12.
Telephone 017687 74411 or visit the theatre’s website: www.theatrebythelake.com
