Cleator Moor rocks to the Mersey beat

THE sounds of Liverpool rang through Cleator Moor last week.

The Oddsembles, a group made up of talented performers from Copeland Occupational Social Centre (COSC), treated a packed-out crowd at Cleator Moor Civic Hall to the best tunes from the city that gave the world The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers and Cilla Black.

“It was the fourth show we’ve done in the Civic Hall and it was the best yet,” said COSC’s Pauline Grears, who along with Cara Williams and Jim Pullin performed the Cilla Black hit You’re My World at last Wednesday’s show.

“We have been practicing for eight months and all the hard work was worth it.

“The show was very well attended and earned rave reviews from all those who came.”

The audience included children from St Patrick’s School, residents of Wyndham Manor and Bethel House, and the mayor and mayoress of Copeland, Peter and Louise Tyson.

They were treated to songs including You’ll Never Walk Alone by Jim Pullin, Summertime by Steve Stevenson and Joan Philip, and a solo on the kazoo by John Harrison.
