Calder Sew and Sews

THE meeting on June 16 was our annual strawberry tea. To add to the treat a member, Betty, had made up kits to make a small fabric strawberry just the right size for a key ring or a small pair of embroidery scissors.
A warm welcome back to Susan, who is still recovering from a broken ankle due to January’s snow.
The next meeting will be on July 21 and is Christmas in July and we will be making a small bird ornament suitable for Christmas or any time of year in the home. The fat quarter is a Christmas fabric.
We have no meeting in August but in September we have a treat for all quilters as we are having a talk on September 24 by Jackie Taylor of White Cottage Country Crafts from the Midlands. She is also doing a workshop on September 25. Jackie has never been to Cumbria so will also be bringing her mobile quilt shop where I am sure we will see something new for everyone who sews.
We are a friendly crowd who always welcome new and not-so-new quilters. For further information we can be reached on 01946 66966 (Sylvia) or 019467 25486 (Lynsey).
