PRESIDENT Angela welcomed members to the May meeting which had a very full agenda. Jean read the minutes of the last meeting.

A report was given on the community venture held in the Reading Room but unfortunately this was not well supported by villagers although we will try again in June.

After hosting the group meeting at Bigrigg, Angela thanked all who had helped during the evening.

Notices were read and boards went round for names of people wishing to go to any of the events we had been invited to. County News articles were discussed but as we were pushed for time the report on the spring council meeting was held over to the June meeting.

Judy Hall of Seascale, our representative for the AGM, came and spoke about the resolutions. After much debate our votes were cast and she would act accordingly on our behalf. We look forward to her return visit with her report.

Our speakers for the evening were Claire and Alison, project workers from Age UK, based in the west. They gave an insight into their work with the community and all the events which have been organised, many at the De Lucy Centre, Egremont. Leaflets and posters were distributed with all details and they looked forward to seeing us there. They were thanked by Jean.

The competition for a childhood toy was won by 1 Brenda Powe; 2 Angela Walls and 3 Doreen Head. Refreshments were served by Elsie, Jane and Brenda.
