MORE than 100 members and visitors turned out to see Zena Stone from Bolton who was the demonstrator at the March meeting.
Mary Cunningham, chairman, welcomed everyone.
Zena Stone then presented “Into Springtime”, involving six stunning designs of profuse colour and artistry.
First, she used tulips, daffodils, iris and carnations in a rustic basket. A pedestal design was next, using mainly pink flowers, mini gerbera, lilies and pink roses. she cleverly wove some formium leaves and incorporated them. She passed a leaf around to show the intricate weaving.
A lovely green glass dish then held a fresh green and white design and then a large, square metal grid to place two arrangements using beautiful aqua roses. Her finale was a stunning display in a metal bird bath with white akito roses, longiflorum lilies and green spider chrysanths.
Maureen Gleaves gave the vote of thanks.
Winners of the arrangements were: Barbara Ashburner; Maryanne Vickers; Shelagh Mathie; Maureen Gleaves; Gillian George; Beryl Postlethwaite and Jackie Stocks.
The members’ competition was for a basket design and resulted: 1 Liz Storrs; 2 Judith McLardie; 3 Mary Cunningham. Sue Miller and Wendy Bracegirdle were first and second in the novices section.
Home-made refreshments were then enjoyed.
