Fillingham strikes late

A LATE Karl Fillingham strike gave Celtic a hard-fought win against high-flying Ryhope.
It was the move of the game that created the winner in the 86th minute. Jamie Devine and Ben Bateson linked up to find Gareth Evans, whose pass opened up the visitors’ defence for Fillingham to finish well.
Ryhope made a solid start to the game and bossed the early stages. But Celtic adjusted to the pace and created the first opening, but Gary George headed straight at the keeper from a Ryan Watson ball.
The match soon developed into a midfield battle, and chances were scarce until the last 15 minutes when Celtic began to take control and finally bagged the winner.
Fillingham could have put the game beyond doubt in the last minute but shot over, but one goal proved to be enough.
Celtic host Jarrow on Saturday (2.30pm kick-off), before travelling to East Durham United on Monday, April 28 and a home game against Boldon on Wednesday, April 30 (7.30pm kick-off).
