It’s music to your ears this weekend

THIS weekend is major for music in Cumbria. There is Carlisle Live on August 23-24 and Solfest from August 22-24.
Carlisle Live hosts a major line-up of names. Topping the list is Boyzone, McFly and The Hoosiers.
They are joined by eScala and Andrew Johnston, from Britain’s Got Talent fame, A.M.A.N.D.A., Go Audio, Hope and Chico from X-Factor fame and Billiam.
There will also be the Stobart Factor Final to see who shares a stage with Boyzone.
Unfortunately Cleator Moor’s Jim Morley did not make it through to the final, in fact none of the final six chosen acts are from Cumbria.
Carlisle Live will take place in Bitts Park, for tickets telephone 0871 424 444 or log onto www.carlislelive.co.uk
Voted Best Family Festival at the UK Festival Awards, Solfest, at The Tarns, near Silloth, promises something for everyone.
Big name Supergrass will be joined by the likes of Roisin Murphy and Alabama 3 on the main stage.
This will be mixed with diverse and talented performers across four stages, from electro and indie to dance and hip hop.
There will also be a story-telling tent, free children’s activities from circus skills to puppet-making workshops, plus a baby chill-out tent and a market.
Tickets have now all sold out – one of the few festivals locally and nationally to do so.
