TWO top comedians are heading to Carlisle’s Sands Centre.
Dara O’ Briain is performing on Thursday, May 29 and then Paul Merton’s Impro Chums on Saturday, May 31.
Irish comedian Dara O’ Briain is a charismatic, fast-talking stand-up comedian.
He hosts his own satirical news show Mock The Week, alongside the likes of Rory Bremner and Jeremy Hardy, he has guest presented Have I Got News For You a record four times, as well as appearing on QI and in Three Men In A Boat.
Essentially a storyteller, Dara’s lightning fast banter with audiences and relaxed style has earned him a reputation as one of the best comics working today. Tickets are £19.
Paul Merton and his highly talented Impro Chums will present a Whose Line Is It Anyway? style show.
Regular Chums are the likes of Richard Vranch, Lee Simpson, Jim Sweeney and Suki Webster.
They take audience suggestions (on slips of paper handed in before the start and from things shouted out during the show) and create short scenes, speeches or jokes on the spot without any preparation.
Paul Merton first came to public attention as a team captain on Have I Got News For You but he was already a successful comedy writer, especially on Sticky Moments With Julian Clary, and a regular at The Comedy Store.
The improvised comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? also provided a platform for his razor sharp spontaneous wit and his talent for improvisation continues to serve him well as host of Room 101.
Tickets are £18.50. Both gigs start at 8pm.
For further information and tickets for either gig telephone the box office on 01228 625222 or online at www.thesandscentre.co.uk.
