CHAMPIONSHIP clubs plan a two-day get-together in the Lake District next week to discuss the proposed changes to the competition format from 2012.
A new-look competition moved a step closer last week after RFL chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer met clubs to discuss the issue.
Under the proposals, the Championship will include up to 14 clubs from next year, with others from outside the professional set-up joining a fresh Championship One.
And, after next week’s gathering at Lakeside, the RFL will launch a formal search for expressions of interest from clubs who wish to enter the third tier next term.
