Whitehaven coach relieved of his duties

Don Gailer was tonight relieved of his coaching duties at Whitehaven and an offer of a new deal for next season was withdrawn.

It is believed the decision to remove him from control with only one game still to play in the regular season, ahead of the Championship One play-offs, came as a surprise to the Aussie, who led Haven to promotion this term.
