WHITEHAVEN RL players have been boxing clever with their first pre-season training sessions.
The club has had their stars indulging in a spot of fisticuffs at Whitehaven Amateur Boxing Club.
“We worked with them when Steve McCormack was in charge and Seedsy was a player,” said boxing coach Tim Savage. “He has asked us to do the same sort of stuff we did then, starting with some basic fitness.
“The fitness advantage they can get from it is there for everyone to see. We’ll do it for an initial four weeks and take it from there.”
The training will involve sparring and Seeds also plans to introduce separate wrestling sessions.
“I have my own ideas about training and I think they will work,” said coach David Seeds. “I want players to learn the basics before we move on.”
