WHITEHAVEN have agreed a four-figure shirt sponsorship deal for their reserve-grade side with Cleator Moor-based Farrell Sports.
The firm’s Dave Farrell is a former director of the club’s second-string, formerly known as the Academy side.
“Being involved with the Academy for a few years, I felt it was good to try to help the lads in what they are doing,” he said. “They are perhaps the unsung heroes of the club.
“Most sponsorship that comes in goes to the first-team and understandably so.
“Though I thought it time that someone recognised the reserve-grade’s record of continuous improvement. They’ve done well and I’m sure that will continue.”
Academy products Marc Shackley, David Ford and Marc Bainbridge have already featured for the first-team this season.
The reserves open their account at home to Hunslet on Saturday (2.30pm).
Last week’s Pride of Five £100 winners were: R Cass, of Coronation Drive, Whitehaven, with ticket number 1,070; L&G Taxis, Ennerdale Terrace, Kells, 821; D Telford, Market Place, 3,035; C Waugh, King’s Drive, Egremont, 3,596; J Crewdson, Woodlands Avenue, Hillcrest, 2,134.
