gangnam flashmob surprise lanes shoppers

SHOPPERS in Carlisle stared in wonder as a Gangnam-style flashmob broke out in The Lanes.
South Korean pop star Psy’s number one hit blasted out of speakers outside Superdrug on Saturday afternoon.
Lifestyle Fitness personal trainer Stevie Sharp and Moky Fit dance instructors led the group of about 30 people, who were raising cash for Cancer Research UK.
On the stroke of 1pm the music started and the group started dancing, much to the amazement of shoppers.
Paul Dunn, manager of Lifestyle Fitness gym on Currock Road, said: “We are hoping to raise about £200 for the charity. It’s a bit of fun really and everyone likes Gangnam as it’s so catchy.
“Stevie is one of our personal trainers and she’s a real livewire – a good person to lead the flashmob.
“Everyone who took part got a free month’s membership and everyone who donated £1 to the charity was entered into a free prize draw to win a one-year membership.
“Our aim is also to try to encourage people to get fit after Christmas. Blue Monday is coming up on January 21. This is said to be one of the most depressing days of the year when people’s New Year’s resolutions start to slide so we’re doing something to try to cheer people up.
“We usually raise money for Shelter, the homeless charity, throughout the year.
“This year about 25 to 30 staff and gym members are hoping to take part in a Total Warrior style event.”
