The aphids take their early toll...
IT SEEMS it was only yesterday when I planted my spring-flowering containers, yet over the weekend I lifted the double flowering tulips which have now faded and put them into store for drying off for planting later in the year.

Home wanted for ‘the most loving dog ever’
I WOULD like to say thank you very much for Sellafield donating £1,000 to Animal Concern – it is very much appreciated. And also a thank you to Pets At Home for letting us bring our dogs along again. New homes were found for them and £130 raised – thanks to everyone.

Easter entertaining with lamb – and chocolate!
I LOVE this time of year, both in the garden and in the kitchen. As I write, all the spring flowers are out, the sun is shining and I am thinking ahead about the Easter break and cooking for family and friends.

Birds: height of energy efficiency
THAT amazing bird, the fieldfare, appeared once more in my garden all the way from northern Scandinavia, soon after the snow and intense cold of early February. And with a liking for bits of fresh apple too, which I scattered beneath my window.

Activity on the rise – along with pests!
