Check your Wayne-o-meter!
Wayne, of Wayne's World pet store on Duke Street, Whitehaven, continues his chat on how best to feed your pet...
The amount of meat in a food is a good way of assessing the quality of the food, as the better foods will put more meat in the food as it’s a great source of protein (which helps muscle & bone growth), this puts the price of the food up but it’s worth it. Why not go and get your bag of dog or cat food and see how much meat is listed on it. Use my Wayne-o-meter below to see where it fits on the scale:
Dog Food
Less than 10% - Poor
10-15% - Still not great
15-25% - More like it now
26+% - Excellent
Cat Food
Cats are carnivores so require a large source of meat/fish, over 50% if possible
Less than 5% - Wouldn’t even call that cat food
5-40% - Still not great
41+% - Excellent
So is it time you upgraded your pets food?
That’s enough of the heavy stuff for today, just remember your pet eats what you give it, so you have a responsibility to feed them right.
