One for the camera: Whitehaven and District Schoolboys’ Shield Team 1905-06
THE masters almost outnumber the players in this line up of the 1905-06 Whitehaven and District Schoolboys’ Shield Team.
We last carried this image in our pages almost 50 years ago when reader Mr L Burns of Briscoe Crescent was able to furnish us with names.
The teachers were, left to right, Messrs Battie, Gilmour, Maxwell, Burns and Lindow and the players were: back row, G Spinks, J Spedding, Irving; middle, M Moffatt, J Magee (captain), J Wightman, J Thompson, B Rogers and front, R Wilson, W Milburn and L Burns. The photographer was J F Forster, of Whitehaven.
