The countdown is on to this year's in-cumbria Business Awards with entries from all sectors of industry across the county.

Companies large and small are vying for honours in the prestigious awards which celebrate the cream of Cumbrian business.

James Higgins, group editor with the CN Group, said: "We have already seen some fantastic entries to this year's in-cumbria business awards; it's great to see and hear stories of endeavour, success and excellence from across the county.

"I'm really keen that businesses do not miss out on what is a fantastic opportunity to raise their profile and have their hard work recognised.

"The deadline for entries is fast approaching, so I'd encourage anyone operating a business in the county, or who plays a role in one, to visit our website, take a look at the range of categories, and get involved. It could be the best thing you do this year."

This year's awards will be presented by the BBC's media editor Amol Rajan, a former editor of The Independent, at the Halston Hotel in Carlisle on November 9.

The Field Studies Council's Blencathra Centre picked up the award for Environmental and Energy Awareness last year.

Tim Foster, who heads the centre, said: "It was very pleasing to be honoured for our contribution to helping the environment,"

Carlisle's Country House Outdoor won the 2016 Training and Development Award. Director of international e-commerce and buying Gareth O'Rourke said: "The award was important to us because we spend alot of time and effort developing and training our staff."

There are 16 categories available to businesses and individuals. To enter go to www.in-cumbria.com/awards
