John Robson, 22, of Snebro Road in Whitehaven, died after the red Seat Ibiza he was driving collided on Moresby Parks Road, Moresby, at 2.45am on Saturday.

A spokesperson for John’s family said: “John was a wonderful son, brother and uncle. He had a very soft heart and loved spending time with his two nephews, to whom he passed on his passion for motorbikes.

“He was a kind person who would never turn anyone away who needed help even if it was to fix a car, when he knew he would finish up covered in grease and oil.

“He will be sadly missed.”

John’s fiancé added: “He was a wonderful fiancé who I will love forever and never forget.”

John was travelling from the Whitehaven direction through Moresby village when he lost control of the car while travelling over a bridge.

The vehicle collided with a gate post before hitting a number of parked vehicles and coming to rest against a house.

He was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital but unfortunately died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

His passenger, a 22-year-old man from the Whitehaven area, was also taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with serious injuries where his condition is described as stable.

Officers from the West Cumbria road policing unit are investigating.
