FORMER Workington Town star Brad Hepi will be one of a host of stars set to travel up to west Cumbria this weekend for a rugby league fundraiser in aid of the Copeland Tragedy Fund.
Hepi will line up alongside a host of Great Britain and Super League legends for the Steve Prescott Foundation side who will take on Wath Brow Hornets on Sunday at Red Beck Road.
Leading names from the world of rugby league, including Chris Joynt, Paul Sculthorpe, Gary Schofield, Gary Connolly, Andy Gregory and Steve Prescott himself will be lacing up their boots to play against the Hornets.
And they will play against a team of former Wath Brow favourites, coached by Barry Smith and managed by Pat McGrath.
Former Hornets players, including current coaches Ian Rudd and Ian Rooney, Wesley Wilson, Martin Amor, Martin Eldon, Paul Davidson, Neil McCartney and Mark Cox will turn out against the Legends.
And Rooney is looking forward to the opportunity to play against some of the biggest names in the game.
“It is fantastic for us to have them up here and play host to them,” said Rooney.
“Both the game and the sportsman’s dinner are for very good causes, and Steve himself is an inspiration to anyone.
“Hopefully we will be able to raise a few thousand pounds and push it out to both causes.
“It will be a great chance to meet these players and I am really looking forward to it, rubbing shoulders with champions, which is also good for the youngsters who will be there.”
Entrance for this special match is pay at the turnstiles £3 at the Wath Brow ground.
It will be a weekend packed with activities, starting off with a sportsman’s dinner on Saturday, August 21, in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation.
It will be hosted by Karl Kirkpatrick and special guests will be the Sky Sports trio of Barrie McDermott, Brian Carney and Terry O’Connor
The audience will also include a host of ex-Super League stars and present day top flight heroes Lee Briers, Sam Tomkins, Richard Horne and Adrian Morley have donated their boots to the boost the fundraising.
This event was sold out before the tickets were even printed.
