Ex-Oasis guitarist helps Cumbrian music festival sell-out

Tickets for this weekend’s music festival at Beckermet, near Egremont, have sold out.
The three-day Beck Fest, at The White Mare hotel, will see more than 40 acts perform over three stages.
The headliner of the festival is Bonehead from Oasis with his new band The Vortex. Other famous faces heading to the village include Christina Novelli – the daughter of celebrity chef Jean Christophe.
Organiser Danny Maudling, of promoters The Mighty Boof, said he is looking forward to a great weekend rain or shine – because the festival area will be covered with a massive marquee.
Organisers have pulled out all of the stops to make the event a success, with camping on site, a special bus service running to and from the village from Whitehaven and Egremont, and park and ride.
Tickets sold out yesterday morning, but Danny said that there may be the chance to buy one on the gate if there are any returns.
The festival kicks off with an acoustic warm-up show inside the hotel on Friday night and things then move outside to the main stages which are all inside the marquee on the Saturday and Sunday.
When the acts have finished on the outside stages at 10pm there will be an open mic night inside the pub on the Saturday and Sunday. The line-up includes Carlisle rockers Falling Red, Workington’s Colt 45 – who are currently number one in the indie download charts, Mazzoni, dance act Vanya and up-and-coming acts such as Glover from St Bees.
The Lottery Winners from Wigan, who recently won a recording contract as winners of the Live and Unsigned competition and local band The Fundamental, who also made the final of the competition, will also be performing. There will be acoustic acts playing throughout the weekend inside the White Mare, such as Gavin McKew.
There is limited camping available on site which must be booked in advance on 01946 841246 and there will be a bus service running every two hours from 12pm at Wilkinsons, in Whitehaven, and from 12.30pm at the Co-op in Egremont. The service will run more frequently if there is demand.
Return buses will run from The White Mare, with the last one after the main stages finish at 10pm.
Park and ride will be available all day and night from Yottenfews car park at Sellafield.
