Emma Hunter, 22, farm worker and mother and Robert Spooner, 24, agricultural contractor, live in Kirkby Stephen.
HOW THEY MET: An ex-boyfriend of Emma’s took revenge and gave her mobile number to any lad who wanted it. Rob had seen Emma and fancied her but had no means of contact, so was glad to get her number from her ex and they have been together ever since.
PROPOSAL: Engaged on Christmas Day 2008. The ring was wrapped in small to large boxes – covering the ring was a band of paper saying ‘will you marry me’.
VENUE: Castle Green Hotel, Kendal.
THEME: Ivory and pillar box red with a hint of gold.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory satin gown with ruched bodice and full lace insert flowing into a chapel length train, matching ivory lace bolero and a chapel length veil held in place with a crystal tiara, all from The Wedding Barn, Penrith.
GROOMSMEN: The groom’s friend Stuart Facer was best man and ushers were the bride’s uncle Keith Airey and the groom’s friend Ivan Brown. They wore dark blue suits with cream and gold waistcoats and red cravats from Greenwoods, Kendal.
The bride and groom’s son Harley Spooner was pageboy and wore black trousers and a red satin waistcoat supplied by The Wedding Barn.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s cousin Hayley Graham was chief bridesmaid and wore a red strapless dress with ivory band to match the buttons on the back. Bridesmaids were the groom’s sister Marie Spooner who wore a red strapless dress with ivory band, the bride’s sister Georgia Hunter who wore a red dress with shoestring straps and ivory band and the bride’s daughter Aimee-Ruth Hunter, who wore a cream dress with red sash.

FLOWERS: The bride carried a trailing bouquet of red and ivory roses, red feathers and a mixture of greenery, supplied by Carmen in Kendal.
The bride’s bouquet was given to her nana Betty Airey.
The bridesmaids carried silver glitter wands entwined with ivory and red roses and feathers and thin long grass looped over supplied by Interflora, Penrith.
RECEPTION: Castle Green Hotel, Kendal for a wedding breakfast for 60 guests and an evening reception for a further 70 guests. The bride’s parents made a board covered in photos of the bride and groom, from their baby years to now including hen and stag photos.
TABLE SETTINGS: Red crystals scattered upon ivory table cloths, lace cut out butterflies on wine glass rims for the guest names and tall glass vases containing two red roses on mirrors surrounded by tealights.
FAVOURS: Handmade boxes by the bride and groom’s friend Sandra Dodd held chocolate made by Kennedys Fine Chocolates, Orton near Penrith.
CAKE: A large iced fruit cup cake in ivory with red rose, giving the appearance of dropping single petals down onto 60 sponge cup cakes and some cupcakes were decorated with E and R on the top in red glitter icing, made by Fancy That, Penrith.
FIRST DANCE: I See You by Leona Lewis.
ENTERTAINMENT: Tranx 2020 disco and exploding balloons filled with small balloons and silver confetti.
HONEYMOON: Majorca.
