Egremont Rangers 12 Millom 22: After a superb victory over Thatto Heath last weekend, Egremont Rangers slipped from their National Conference League group A perch on Saturday, with a loss to local rivals Millom at Gillfoot Park.
The home side did have the early advantage, with a self-converted try from John Paul Brocklebank opening the scoring after eight minutes.
But they were not having it all their own way and it was another 20 minutes before they extended that leak when Alistair Leak fed Matthew Bewsher, who touched down.
Then Millom, in their first foray over the Egremont 20-metre line, hit back with a touchdown for Joe Moyes but the home side still had the edge 12-4 at the break.
Into the second half and Millom took the game right to their hosts, their pack making inroads into the Egremont defence.
Graham Lupton brought Millom right back into the game when he secured an interception try from the half way line, with Paul Evans converting and then adding a penalty minutes later to level the game at 12-12.
Millom took the lead on 50 minutes with an unconverted try from Moyes and the two sides continued to battle as they went into the last quarter, with just four points between them.
Egremont tried to get the breakthrough but nothing came off for them and then Millom broke through with 10 minutes remaining.
Egremont spilled a kick behind their line and Millom prop Paul Carter touched it down for the final score of the day, with an Evans conversion to allow Millom the win at 22-12.
