HOW THEY MET: Through friends in 1994.
PROPOSAL: Over a meal on Valentine’s Day in 1998.
VENUE: Hunday Manor Hotel, Workington.
THEME: Black and white fairytale.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Demetrious white dress and veil with sweetheart neckline, full tulle skirt scattered with diamantes, bodice covered in diamantes and diamante tiara, from Bridal House, Maryport.
GROOMSMEN: The groom’s friend Neil Holding was best man and ushers were the groom’s friend Derek Malkinson and the bride’s cousin Philip Acton.
The bride’s cousin’s son Lewis Acton and the bride’s friend’s son Harrison Stewart were page boys.
They wore black Prince Edward suits, black and white waistcoats and black cravats, from Contemporary Menswear, Whitehaven.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s friends Michelle Stewart and Amanda Christian were bridesmaids and wore long black strapless dresses with white sashes from Olivia James Bridal, Egremont.
The bride’s cousin’s daughter Leah Acton and bride’s cousin’s daughters Mia and Eve Young were flower girls and wore white puffy dresses trimmed with black, from Bridal House, Maryport.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, white roses, white freesia, black butterflies and bear grass from Rose Budz, Whitehaven.
TRANSPORT: A cream Beauford and a black and cream Daimler, from A Touch of Class, Workington.
RECEPTION: Hunday Manor Hotel for 120 guests.
TABLE SETTINGS: Black candelabra with white candles in the middle of all the tables with black rose petals scattered around and white chair covers with black bows, by Finishing Touches, Workington. The top table had a large floral display matching the bouquet, made by the bride.
FAVOURS: Black and white handbags with chocolate hearts for the ladies and black and white tuxedo boxes with whisky chocolates for the men, made by the bride and her mother Sandra Carnochan. The children were given party bags.
CAKE: A three-tier black and white castle cake of fruit and sponge, with a bride and groom and their car made of icing for the topper, made by Jackie Hadley of Dearham.
FIRST DANCE: Evergreen, Will Young.
ENTERTAINMENT: Disco and exploding black and white balloons from Crown Celebrations, Whitehaven.
HONEYMOON: Paris and Disneyland.
