STAFF at the NatWest in Wigton are celebrating their success in a national competition, which praised their customer service over the last year.

The branch beat off strong competition from NatWest branches throughout the country to be awarded the Platinum Customer Service Award, which is given by the bank to branches that deliver a quality service across a range of customer needs.

Customers’ answers to a questionnaires determined the result, and the Wigton branch came out on top.

The winners were treated to a presentation from Mark Eccleston, a paralympic silver medallist, who severed his spinal chord in an accident when he was 16.

Mark told the staff how he turned his adversity to success and the tools he uses, which can be used by anyone to aid their own development.

Celeste Connell, manager at NatWest’s Wigton branch, said: “When you work so hard as a team to deliver a quality service, it’s great to receive a national award from the bank, but it means so much more because it is our customers’ comments that have put us in the top spot.

“It was such a treat to hear from Mark as he is so articulate and passionate. His presentation was very motivational and I will share it with my team as we strive to continually offer excellent service.”
