College shatters apprentice target

LAKES College has beaten its target to place 100 apprentices in work within 100 days.
In only 75 days the college has placed 105 apprentices as part of the initiative – and it is still continuing to recruit both apprentices and employers.
The news comes only three months after the announcement by Lakes College that it had joined forces with the National Apprenticeship Services (NAS) to take part in the nationwide scheme.
The 100 in 100 programme was set up to benefit young people by providing them with a chance to get on the career ladder. It also helps local businesses to develop a skilled and bespoke workforce.
Lorraine Irving, business and community development manager at Lakes College, who has been leading the scheme, said: “We are delighted that the initiative has been such a great success and that we have already beaten our target to place 100 apprentices in work in a fraction of the time. We will be continuing to carry on recruitment of both employers and apprentices and aim to successfully match the employers’ needs with the skills of the local workforce.”
