Christine Nicola Mellon, 29, administration officer, and Colin Fraser Brown, 30, self-employed ceiling fixer, live in Whitehaven
HOW THEY MET: On a night out in Whitehaven.
PROPOSAL: Colin proposed on his birthday in their home.
VENUE: St James’ Church, Whitehaven. Christine was given away by her father Derek Mellon.
THEME: Ivory, azure blue and silver with a heart and diamante theme.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory strapless A-line Romantica duchess satin gown with silver embroidery on the bodice and crystals, rouching detail to the waist and embroidery/crystal design on the bottom of the gown.
The back of the dress had a coat tail design with embroidery and crystals around and down the medium length train. A silver rainbow crystal Linzi Jay tiara and a mid length three-tier veil trimmed with crystals. All from Champagne Brides, Workington.
GROOMSMEN: The groom’s brother Stuart Fraser Brown was best man. The bride’s brothers Derek William Mellon and Joseph David Mellon and the groom’s friends Steven Singleton and Michael Doran were ushers.
The groom’s nephews Jamie Brown and Curtis Brown and the bride’s nephew Jack William Mellon were page boys. They wore charcoal grey Prince Edward suits with silver waistcoat and cravat, from Dresses and Dreams, Workington.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister Rachel Rebecca Mellon was chief bridesmaid and the bride’s friends Amanda Little and Lynsey Good, the groom’s niece Tamsyn Fraser and the bride’s friend’s daughter Ellie Cornish were bridesmaids.
The three older bridesmaids wore azure blue satin Veromia two piece outfits with silver embellishments on the bodice, Tamsyn wore an azure blue satin dress and Ellie wore a white and azure blue tulle ballerina style dress with silver embellishment on the bodice.
All dresses from Olivia James Bridal, Egremont.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a hand-tied posy of ivory roses and freesias trimmed with gypsophila with diamantes and rainbow crystals from Jean’s Flower Boutique, Whitehaven.
TRANSPORT: A black and ivory Daimler, cream Rolls Royce and cream limousine from A Touch of Class, Workington.
RECEPTION: Summergrove Hall Hotel, Hensingham, for 130 guests, bucks fizz/canape reception followed by a four-course sit down meal and a further 40 guests in the evening for a buffet.
A chocolate fountain was supplied in the evening from Chocolate Fountain Falls, Whitehaven.
TABLE SETTINGS: Tall square Martini vase arrangements filled with crystals, ivory roses and floating candles on a mirror base with tea-lights, diamantes and silk silver petals scattered across the tables and white chair covers with turquoise organza bows, from Finishing Touches, Workington. The tables were named after places in the Lake District.
Balloon arrangements and table confetti by A Perfect Gift, Whitehaven in the evening.
FAVOURS: Lucky dip lottery tickets for the men, champagne and strawberry truffles from The Rheged Centre, near Penrith in ivory and turquoise boxes trimmed with turquoise diamante and heart ribbon for the women, chocolate footballs in top hats for the boys and jewellery and chocolate hearts in ivory and turquoise boxes for the girls.
CAKE: A three-tier fruit, sponge and chocolate cake decorated with ivory and turquoise roses and ribbon and a silver and diamante cake topper with turquoise and ivory roses, by Susan Archer, Cleator Moor. The tiers were separated with a square vase filled with crystals and blue lights.
FIRST DANCE: I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing, Aerosmith.
ENTERTAINMENT: Disco by Crown Celebrations, Whitehaven.
HONEYMOON: Cyprus.
