Over 30 youngsters enjoyed the party at Parton which was hosted by Whitehaven Neighbourhood Policing Team for those aged between eight and 16.
They enjoyed sea fishing, rock pooling and sports as well as arts and crafts. The events, last Thursday, came to a close with a barbecue.
Police Community Support Officer Mark Fishpool, of Whitehaven, said it was about enjoying a great day outside, learning about the local environment, while also being aware of how to stay safe playing by the sea and how to get help if they see someone in trouble.
“It will also have the added bonus of building strong positive relationships between the local youngsters, police and other agencies involved,” he added.
Ian Sanderson, from the Rod and Reel organisation, was on hand to teach the youngsters fishing techniques and to inform them about environmental issues. The Coastguard team and Sea Fisheries were also there.
The event was supported by £250 funding through the Police Property Fund.
