There was the popular mix of livestock, crafts, produce and sports on offer at the 103rd annual event, held last Wednesday.

Youngsters enjoyed a range of fun activities, from the bouncy castle, to the toy stall and of course the ice-cream on offer throughout the day.

As the sun shone, the crowds gathered to enjoy all the show had to offer.

Assistant show secretary Roy Jenkinson, said: “Judging by the volume of cars in the car park and the number of people wandering round, I think it has been a very successful show.

“We want to thank all the exhibitors for making it such a great success and we want to thank the public for their support.”

The show hosted the popular sheep classes, including Cumbria’s native Herdwick sheep. Victoria Watson, from Ravenglass, won the prize for the champion Herdwick, with her gimmer lamb.

The was also a range of horses and pony classes and poultry exhibits as well as children’s pet class.

A popular feature is the vintage machinery show. Terry Richardson, from Cleator Moor, won first prize for his 1929 Alvis SD vintage car.

Mr Richardson has spent the last seven years restoring the vehicle, which he and his wife Sheila now use regularly.

Sheila said: “We are chuffed to bits.” She added that the pair had not expected to win the class at all.

The show also featured a considerable amount of creative talent, as young and old, turned their hands to making, baking and getting crafty in the industrial tent.

Among the winners were six-year-old Megan Stamper, from Dearham, who won the F Williamson cup for her colourful creations in the children’s craft and produce section.

While eight-year-old Kate Shipton-Smith won first prize for her homemade necklace made from recycled materials.

And John Killip, from Egremont won the N Todd trophy, the R S Hughes Trophy and the N Todd rosebowl for his winning creations. He won first prize in the flowering plant class, as well as the pom pom dahlias and three asters.

The tent also featured colourful class work from pupils at Ennerdale and Kinniside Primary School.
